Peace + Prayer= Joy

Hello, darling pretty pumpkin poos. I am so sorry I haven’t blogged since January! Goodness, time sure does fly by! But anyway, today I participated in the Clarity Poster Blitz- Clarity is a pregnancy crisis center providing solutions for women, and men, now, because my father was hired as the Mens Program Director. (And that was a big answer to prayer!)- and was thinking about how people try to use worldly items and people to try and make them feel better. And as Christmas is approaching us- woo-hoo! OH YEAH!!!-  I wanted to write a blog for Christmas and say something that I want to say to every person on this earth. God cares. There is a reason for everything. I don’t want to preach at you and harp on this. I just really want you to remember this in a time of need. Whether you are happy as a little unicorn doing the hula on a rainbow, or you are depressed enough to commit suicide, God cares. He might not seem like he is doing anything. He might fix a problem in a year. Once I prayed that I would have a friend that needed a friend, and there was a new girl at my school the very next day. He cares whether you like it or not! And he wants you to be happy. So pray for peace. Here’s a few examples; A teenage girl is insecure so she sins in some way and now everyone is treating her like crap. Solution: Pray for peace. You are pregnant and your boyfriend or husband is not there for you. Solution: Pray for peace. Things like television, food, sin, etc, can NOT give you peace! (But that doesn’t mean you can’t get people to help you in some healthy way!) We often let Satan lead us in evil paths of sin that promise out secret heart’s desires but leave us in the grave. Then, we are helpless without our father. God is the one who has the cure. God cares. Go in peace, dear hearts.

Bible Verse:

Psalm 103:6- “The Lord works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed.”

New devo

✞Hello! Today, we will enter the land of staying with Christ every day. I’m not going to lie, I am lazy with quiet times where we can get in harmony with God and his thoughts and dreams. It is hard for a lot of people to take time out of their day to stop and stare at a wall. But what we don’t see, is the change in the atmosphere around us. When we spend time with Jesus and his word, we change. And I don’t know how it is with all people, but everywhere I go, I set off a chain reaction whether it is for the better or not. If I am grumpy, and harsh to my sister, for instance, she reacts to me by being mean back. And then, everyone else’s mood is usually changed. I might argue, “No, because spending time with God is pointless. I am nice anyway.” But let me just say this; I am very wrong. SO wrong, like I have absolutely lost my mind. You probably should not be reading this. No, I’m kidding. Letting God into your life is important. Let him love on you, help you, and change your life. Whether you just lost your job, or a family member is driving you up a wall, God cares. In the bible, it says that God had us in mind when he made the world and was dying on the cross. It is a mystery how God thinks of eight billion people at once but this is how awesome God is. So, if God is so amazing, and still thinks of you, a measly microscopic piece of dust, he deserves a minute of your time. And there is no reason why you have to have this ‘going through the motions’ time with the Lord. He loves it when you are happy so be happy! Do some of your favorite things while you pray. And, if you are stressed about spending time with the Lord, don’t be. This is completely your decision. In conclusion, change the world around you by spending time with your heavenly Father. Bye, friends!

Luv and Jesus,

Selah J. Taylor

160 Word Blog for the Week!

Hello, sisters and brothers! Today, I will blog about what to do when you have to leave home. I, actually, am going to Haiti in a month to visit my two new sisters, Orlanka and Woodjina. I will be meeting them for the very first time, so naturally, I am nervous. (And excited too, though!)I have my fears about going there. But I can get through it with God’s help. But also, if you didn’t have any fears about where you are going. Like, for example, let’s say you’re going to Florida, and you’re SO excited. No problem there, right? And, I am not accusing you of doing this, but some people forget about God while they’re relaxing. And so, when you go somewhere, remember who gave you this trip, who loves you during this trip, and who rocks your world on this trip. Go in peace, dear friends. Merry Christmas!

Bible Verse:

Psalm 121

160 Word Devo for the Week!

Hi! This devotion is about when the evil in the world seems overwhelming. This is common with every human ever made. Sometimes, I either want God to come here and fix it, or curl up in a ball and give up. I begin to think, what’s the point? Why keep trying? It’s hopeless, anyway. Then, someone has to tell me that I can’t change it, but I can help it. You see, a lot of people think oh no, I can’t do anything! I can’t be a missionary! It cost money to fly where you want to go, you have to learn their language, etc. But they’re wrong. Changing the world starts with prayer. Have you ever heard of a food chain or a food web?  Every food chain or web starts with sunlight. God is your sunlight. Pray to him about your troubles.  He won’t let you down.

Bible Verse:
Romans 8:28 and Luke 11:5-13.

160 Word Devo for the Week!

Hello, peoples! Today my devotion is about fear! Fear is very common with adults and children. I am talking about fear of a dentist appointment, fear of a bully at school, and fear of your basement stairs. Fear isn’t from God. Satan is completely the cause. Being scared doesn’t feel good. (Except when we’re talking about a deliciously good ghost story!) Fear can even lead to bad actions because feelings turn into thoughts, which turn into actions. When you’re scared, go to God. He will help you. I know that this might sound cheesy but it’s true. There are very many things in the world said to “cure fear” but none of them work without Jesus. Sometimes, you don’t even know that you are scared. Ask God to help you be aware of your fear level. So next time you are scared, remember that Jesus is THERE, watching over you.

Bible Verses:

Psalm 27, Ephesians 6:10-18, and James 4:7

160 Word Devo for the Week!

✞ Hello, friends! This is Selah coming at you live from my desk! Today, I will make a new devotion series by guess who? Me!! Yay! Today’s devotional is about when you are sad. Blue, despairing, or just plain let down. I know how that feels and I don’t like it, you probably don’t like it, and God definitely doesn’t like it! God wants to hear from you sooooooo much!!  And he is the only one who can help!! Tv, electronics, people, money, books, worldly things are not what make you happy. Go to God (Your rock) for protection from being hurt or  sad. He will not make you life perfect. You will have hurtles but God helps you through it. So don’t be blue, friends.

Bible Verse:

” Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. ”  Psalms 42:5

Shifting Into the New School Year

Hi! This is Selah, coming at you live from my super old but also awesome desk! So, what I am blogging about today is the new school year. I’m pretty sure everyone has started school by now in Hardin County even though there might be a couple homeschoolers that haven’t. I go to Lincoln Trail Elementary and have just started fifth grade. I love my teacher, Mrs. Grey and I really like all of the other teachers too. I switch three times and so it is kind of hard to keep track of everything but I feel pretty good about the schedule. It is a public school, so I have my challenges but God is with me. I keep in mind Romans 8:28 when I am discouraged or about ready to give up. There are so many things to worry about! Like, for example, making sure your outfit fits the school dress code, or that you slept in and missed the bus and now you are in the depths of despair, or when your binder dumps on you and you are the biggest dork in the school for two minutes, or even getting all of your homework done in a timely manner. It all is a big deal to you, isn’t it? But to God, it’s like, no big deal. It’s okay to care, obviously, but in God’s eyes, if you didn’t do anything wrong, (and even if you did), or you tried your hardest and came to him about it, it’s cool. Boom, gone. Doesn’t matter at all. I’m totally not saying that it ends up all perfect the next day, (“Tomorrow, tomorrow”, no, I’m kidding.) I am just telling you now that it doesn’t have to be a big honkin’ huge deal. If you give it to God, it will not matter as much. For instance, if you got a 87 percent on that big test, if you give it to God privately, and really submit, he will give you peace.  Ta-da! Lesson for this month has been announced! 🙂 So, school subjects… In Math, I am learning about the Order of Operations or GEMDAS. (Grouping Symbols, Exponents, Multiplication and Division, Addition and Subtraction.) In Writing, we are learning about why we write and the Writing Process. In Reading, we are learning many things, inferencing, what a climax is, Problem and Solution, and others. In Social Studies, I am learning how to summarize the land bridge theory and memorizing the major physical landmarks of the United States and the oceans and continents. I am having fun writing my book (which I will blog a sneak peek of) and playing three instruments. I send a blessing to you and/or your kids. Even though I don’t know your name, I have you in my prayers. Go out into the world and spread the holy fire! Have a great month! Bye!

When the Rooster Crows: My New Blog Series.

When the Rooster Crows

INTRODUCTION:

I thought of this intro on Good Friday, and wrote it on the Saturday after. That’s right, I wrote it in the time when the world was dark. Literally. My mom was talking about the story of Peter when he says he doesn’t know Jesus three times before the rooster crows and I just kept thinking about this more and more. We all know how discouraging, sad, great, funny, crazy, and scary life can be. And even if you have only experienced one or two, you most likely will discover all of them. We are here to help, share, and be kind to people who don’t know Jesus yet. I am writing this book to help you (and me!) walk faithfully in this journey to Heaven. Please join me as we plunge into darkness, skip through grassy valleys and get to know the lord better in “When the Rooster Crows”. Thank you.

GETTING STARTED:

Do you want to be a Christian? I already am one and I am so glad. Maybe you just heard it somewhere and are curious. Awesome. Or maybe you have been thinking about it and just can’t decide. That’s great. Or you want to but are afraid what other people will think, especially your family. That’s fine too. Either way, you want to get to know Jesus and that is the best thing ever. Here are some steps to getting to be a Christian. (1). Believe Jesus died on the cross and died for you and your sins. He died on that cross thinking of you. (2). Pray your own special prayer asking for forgiveness of your sins. He will throw them deep down to the bottom of the ocean where no one will ever hear, speak, or think again. You will be free. Satan’s chains will be broken. You will be free. (3). Ask a parent or church leader to baptize you in the name of Christ. That is the cleansing of your soul. (4). Pray. Pray and pray and pray. Not to be boring but it’s true. But the fun thing is, you can have any kind of quiet time you want. It can be listening to music and praying, writing in a journal, and reading your bible. It can be taking a hot bath and praying. It can be dancing and singing and whatever to him in worship. And it doesn’t have to be this soulful ballad. It can be Pop Christian like Jamie Grace or it can be Rapping Christian like TobyMac. Anything!! God loves it when you are happy. So to be simple, do what makes you happy. There are different things for different people. Ask yourself, What do I like? What helps me to connect and be in step with God? Bible Studies are great too. Also make sure to be careful about the people you hang with. God loves you and he always will.
